I tried to capture the varying areas of the scene - different colour in the background, the colouful shadow of the central tree trunk, the strong sunlight and the textured foreground. By including the ground I wanted to increase the feeling of 'being there.' This painting is featured as a Stage by Stage in a forthcoming issue of The Artist (June 2009) in an article entitled 'Painting from Photos.'
